How does the Firework™ programme work?

Developed in 2004 and based on three years of research, the Firework™ programme is one of the longest-established career coaching programmes in Europe. Its structure offers space to stimulate your creativity and imagination and discover your strengths and values. It enables you to become clear about what you want from your career and devise a plan on how to create it. It implements a variety of engaging tools, from written exercises to guided visualisations, all thoroughly tried and tested.

The programme works through three phases: Explore, Dream and Discover.

The Firework™ programme is flexible and whilst I use this approach as the main body for our work together, I adapt each session to your individual needs. This is not a rigid one-size-fits-all system. No two people are the same and therefore what works for one person may not work for another. Each step along the way we collaborate to ensure you are getting a programme tailored towards your personal progress.

How long is the programme?

In its entirety, the full programme runs for 12 sessions, usually one session per week. This is the full Firework™ programme at it’s most impactful, providing time to enquire into all key contributing factors that make up your ideal life and work, hone in on new possibilities for your career direction, and create a clear action plan to move forward. It also allows space to implement ways to help manage any stress or anxiety you might be experiencing.

How long is a session during the 12-week programme?

The first session is 90 minutes to give us good grounding to start from.

All subsequent sessions are 60 minutes.

I’m feeling anxious/fearful. How can you help me manage this?

Anxiety and fear are part of the natural spectrum of emotions. To claim to ‘knock fear on the head’ or ‘get over your fear’ would be misleading and inaccurate. Like every emotion, it has its place and provides information. Throughout the full programme, you will learn how to work with these emotions, give them space, acknowledgment and then room to flow through so you can turn your attention to more interesting things! I use a variety of exercises and techniques which are integrated throughout, as and when appropriate.

I'm not feeling particularly anxious, I'm just feeling a bit stuck/unclear. Will this programme be relevant for me?


Perhaps you are in a position right now where you have the time and freedom to simply explore and reflect, in which case this programme is ideal for you too. It provides space for you to find clarity, work through any uncertainties and take steps towards your new-found goals.

The programme itself doesn’t specifically focus on anxiety, though it will help you with any personal blocks that may arise throughout our time together, which is almost inevitable.

How do I know coaching will work?

Coaching brings the creativity and resourcefulness of two people together, and this alliance facilitates in the revealing of curiosity, strengths, values, talents and also blockages that may have otherwise remained hidden. For coaching to work for you, you will need to be prepared to show up physically and mentally, be honest with yourself and your coach, and be committed to putting your plans into action.

Coaching may not be for everyone, and there are a multitude of coaches and programmes out there. It is important that you find the right avenue for you and work with a person you resonate with. How much is it to work with you & what's included?

The 12-week programme costs £820

If you need an installment plan, you can pay three installments over three months.

I also provide ongoing coaching after the programme ends, if you feel you still need support. Any additional one-off or block sessions after this time can be discussed at the end of the programme.

The 12-week programme includes:

  • 12 one-to-one Skype sessions with me – The session is 90-minutes and the rest are 60-minutes.
  • Tools and techniques to help identify habitual behaviours that are blocking you, and manage your limiting beliefs and/or anxiety. You can use these tools for the rest of your life, and transfer them into any situation.
  • Guided visualisations.
  • Email support between sessions as needed.
  • Worksheets and exercises for you to work on between sessions.

Coaching seems like a big investment...how can I justify it?

Think about it this way: how much money are you willing to spend on a mobile phone, a holiday or a car? Possibly a fair amount, and those big nights out certainly add up over time…

We’re human, we all like things. But like anything material, it has a shelf-life and it’s only worth something to you until something better comes along. Or it breaks. Why do we buy a lot of these ‘things’ anyway? To feel happy. So, my question to you is, what is long-term happiness and well-being worth to you? How could your life change for years to come, if you were to invest in yourself now?

The investment means you have to be brave, committed and take the direction of your life into your own hands. How empowering is that?!

Do I need to do 'homework'?

Yes. Like with anything, what you put in, is what you get out.

Since you are taking the decision to invest in your future, I would encourage you to carve out time between sessions to apply yourself to the tasks that we set at the end of each session. Some exercises may take half an hour, others may take an hour or longer. The exercises are an essential ingredient for the work we do together, and tasks that are set relate to the next session, so there is a flow. 

As your coach, I am here to hold you accountable and help keep you moving towards your goals. I’m not here to slap your wrists. You will never be asked to do something you don’t want to do, and ultimately you are the one that makes the decisions.

Where are you based?

I am currently based in Stratford-upon-Avon, UK. As most of my coaching is done by Skype I work with clients nationwide and internationally.

Can I have coaching with you if I don't live near you?

Absolutely! In fact, generally my coaching is done by Skype. This means that I coach people internationally as well those in the same town as me who find it difficult to get out to an appointment. However, if you are local to Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area and you would prefer in-person appointments, please contact me to discuss.

How can coaching work by Skype?

Having been a client of a number of coaches myself, I have always been on the receiving end of coaching via phone or Skype, so I can vouch for how effective it is. Clients tend to prefer this method once they have tried it as it’s time efficient, you can talk from the comfort of your own home and it provides flexibility if you need to travel throughout the week.

What is the difference between coaching and counselling?

In a nutshell, counselling deals with processing the past in order to live more peacefully in the present, whilst coaching focuses on the future, making changes in the present in order to move forward with confidence.

Throughout the coaching process, blocks, patterns of self-sabotage and ‘limiting beliefs’ may be revealed and identified. In these cases, exercises can be implemented to understand and work through them, and new ways of being or actions can be tried out. However, if there is an issue that needs more in-depth attention, people may need to work with a counsellor before resuming coaching.

As a coach, I cannot diagnose or work on mental health issues such as depression, mood disorders, addictions, ADHD or trauma. If this is the case, it is strongly advised that you seek help from your local GP and/or a licensed counsellor/therapist before moving forward with coaching. Until these problems are resolved or managed effectively, it may be difficult for a person to make significant and lasting changes in their life.

What are your qualifications?

I originally gained my coaching credentials as a certified Health Coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in 2015. I gained my license as a  Firework™ Career Coach in 2018. I am currently studying towards a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and also a Certificate in Children’s Counselling and will gain my qualification in 2020.

Above all, I have experienced my own career transition. I’ve been where you are now and I’ve worked through the Firework™ programme myself.
