YOGA NIDRA
Effortless Guided Meditations To
Rest, Regulate & Reconnect
About Yoga Nidra & My Approach
Yoga Nidra is known as “yogic sleep”. With it’s roots in South-East Asian traditions, it is an ancient, effortless meditation often described as a “sleep-based meditation.” It uses the body’s natural ability to deeply rest and restore, as we do during deep sleep, whilst maintaining gentle awareness. In the West, Yoga Nidra has become widely known as NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest), a practice popularised through research by Dr. Andrew Huberman into deep relaxation and restorative states.
In practice, it involves simply lying down in a comfortable, supported position and listening to guidance to take you into a deep state of rest. It helps you move away from the thinking mind and into sensing the body, allowing you to lean into letting go and profound rest, while simultaneously developing awareness of your thoughts, feelings and emotions. Over time, this supports the release of limiting beliefs and cultivates self-connection. During sessions, the brain naturally cycles through Delta brainwave activity for deep rest, alongside Alpha brainwave activity for relaxed awareness, creating a restorative state for both body and mind.
3 Pillars Of My Approach To Yoga Nidra
⚪️ Rest – Deep rest and rejuvenation. Each guided session supports the body’s natural ability to restore itself, allowing you to release tension and recharge fully.
⚪️ Regulation – Calming and balancing the nervous system. The practice helps shift the body out of the stress response and into a state of equilibrium, supporting emotional regulation and resilience.
⚪️ Reconnection – Reconnecting with yourself. Yoga Nidra creates space to notice and understand your thoughts, emotions, and inner experience, fostering reflection, self-compassion, and insight.
